Royal Activities: From dressing up to special surprises, this day is designed to make every camper feel seen and loved.

A Heart for the Journey

CEO & Founder: David Avritt (USA Ret.) is the CEO and Founder of CA Jail Outreach, the "Home of Camp Growth".

A Soldier for Christ: Saved in 1979 and a Combat Veteran with 22 years of military service, David answered the call to ministry at a Christian Camp when he was 18.

The Educator’s Heart: Katherine A., M.Ed., brings 17 years of educational expertise and two decades of ministry. She is currently pursuing her Ed.D. and is the author of the faith-based toddler curriculum, "I CAN - A Journey of Faith and Growth."

In-State Missionaries: As a family, the Avritts serve as missionaries dedicated to sharing the path of salvation and "Planting a Seed" of hope in every child.

Brian Darden brings a sophisticated blend of academic rigor and service-oriented leadership to Camp Growth. A graduate of California State University, Chico (2010), Brian earned his Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies, providing him with a diverse foundation in human behavior, societal dynamics, and critical thinking.

Furthering his commitment to excellence, Brian holds a Master of Education (M.Ed.), which he currently utilizes to impact the lives of over 200 students in the Sacramento area. His dual expertise in pedagogy and chaplaincy-aligned service makes him an invaluable asset to our ministry operations, ensuring that Camp Growth remains a place of both structured learning and spiritual development.

Welcome to a transformative season at Camp Growth! Our 2026 theme, "We the Kingdom: Living Free," is more than just a title; it is our mission.

The Sacred Space for Growth: Our philosophy is anchored in a simple, eternal truth: God changes lives. We believe that the camp environment is a uniquely appointed setting where God draws the kids unto Himself, softening hearts and strengthening the bonds among the kids, with themselves, and with God. There is a profound, biblical significance to ascending the mountain—removing the clamor of daily distractions to find clarity in the presence of our Creator.

By stepping away from the world, we create the space necessary for the kids to hear His voice, experience His grace, and return to the valley equipped for their calling.
